Making Your 'Nest' a Haven

Yesterday, a friend told me about http://womenlivingwell.org/ and a challenge they have issued for the month of October. I want nothing more than for my house to be a home, a haven. I used to prayer walk my house and pray over each room but busyness and distractions have gotten in the way and I haven't done that in way too long. The Bible portrays the woman as the heart of the home. Proverbs 31:27, "She looketh well to the ways [doings] of her household". Looketh well, is a verb that means to keep watch, to look about, to spy. Now, moms and wives, I'm not saying God is telling us to be a snoop! Haha. God is instructing us to be constantly aware of the happenings, or lack of even, in our homes. Some parents are not aware of what their children are involved in, who their friends are, what's going on in school, what they are watching on TV or computer. I believe parents need to be very much aware of what is taking place in order to be able to better minister to their family. I'm not suggesting we police their every move but that we are equipping ourselves to better parent them. To be able to meet their needs, we need to know their needs.

I encourage you to take this 31 Day Challenge of Making your home a haven.
